introduction to photography

Journalism photography

I found this image using Google images; it was on a website called ‘Seattle pi'. This could be used in a newspaper, or on the live news as it clearly shows something important going on.   It captures a very important time in history, and the fact that this has been positioned so the protestor's signs are in clear view for the reader, lets you see exactly what’s going on. Also, one of the only white people in this image is a police officer, this could show that it was the white people with all the power in this situation.

Photography in advertising

I found this image on Google images. This could be used as an advertisement on billboards/bus stops, or possibly in a magazine.  I like the fact that this image portrays the name of the perfume it’s trying to sell; ‘heat’, as beyonce's almost frizzy hair, dewy skin and the use of red throughout suggest heat. the use of the red is also quite bold and captures attention.

Wildlife photography

I found this image on ‘thefirstprint.co.uk’ via Google images.   This could be used as an image to accompany and article in a newspaper etc. about the subject, or it could in a calendar or book aimed at people who enjoy wildlife.   I like the perspective of this image, the way the camera is angled at the animal makes it look almost dangerous and giant, when in reality it’s only a small, slow, and harmless creature.

Sport photography

I found this image on ‘buinessweek.com’ via Google images. This could be used in newspapers/magazines, and also on the news and other tv shows that talk about sports.  I like the fact that this image was so well timed and thought out that it captured the exact moment this swimmer entered the water. I think this creates a really good reaction of suspense, because it'll make the reader want to find out what happened once she entered the water, and therefore, read the article etc.

Fashion photography

I found this image on vogue.com. This could be used in a magazine or as an advertisement on a billboard etc.I like the contrast of red and yellow on this image, as i think it makes the colours pop more and therefore the garments stand out. They also give off a strong impression of summer, which means this image will appeal the people who like the summer and heat. The way the model covers the whole frame from left to right means you can help but look at her and is very effective.

I found this image using google images. This could be used in a newpaper or magazine article to do with central park. i like this image because of the birdseye view it gives, it lets the reader look down onto such a big city like new york and makes it look almost like a toy town. I think this is really different
prespective that grabs attention because at first you would belive that there would be this amount of vast, green space in the middle of a city landscape.
