photo shoot inspiration
this theme also opens up opportunities for a lot of different vintage costumes, accessories and props as multiple characters will be photographed.
Planning a Photo Shoot/ Recce form
What is the purpose of your photo shoot
The purpose of this photo shoot is to create a portfolio of at least 10 images that advertise ‘Vibe’s products well and make them appealing to customers.
We will use a canon EOS 1100D camera to photograph the images, and
will be careful not to drop or break it. When in the studio we may use lights
and we will be careful not to get burnt by not touching them whilst they’re
hot
What timescale to you expect to
follow? Is there a deadline to meet?
What safety considerations will you
need to take? Have you completed a risk assessment?

What type of photographs will be
taken
fashion photographs will be taken on this shoot. most will just be conventional shots but we will take in mind composition so that they are as attention grabbing as they can be. a few may also be taken using the blue screen in the studio so we can use that to edit.
Are these on location or within a studio? Have
you got permission to work there?
Most of these images will be taken on location, but some may
be done in the studio so editing can be done with use of the blue screen.
What equipment must you use and why?
How will you use it safely?
there is a deadline of two weeks to meet. we expect to get the images shot within the first week and then use the rest of the time to edit them so they fit the brief exactly.
Based on professional rates, how much
will the shoot cost and what costs does it cover
looking at some figures, most photographers charge £50-£100 per hour, about £5 to £25 on processing photos (dependant on the amount of images), around £20 to cover wear and tear of equipment etc, and about £1 per mile for any travelling they may have to do.
judging by these fees, our photo-shoot should come to around £480.

Do you require models, props,
costumes and why?
We require a model so the products can be displayed properly
and to their full potential. Props and costumes will also be used to make the
image more interesting and appealing to the consumer. they will also help make clear the theme and idea of the shoot. we have decided upon an Alice in wonderland theme as I think it will be quite interesting and can portray a vintage feel really well. this means our props will include things such as a whole tea set etc, cake stands, and 'drink me' notes that are recognisable as 'Alice in Wonderland' iconography.
we will complete a risk assessment before going on location shoots and make sure we are well aware of all hazards and how to avoid them.
What legal and ethical considerations
must be made for you photo shoot?
we will make sure that we don't include any imagery or props that would offend certain cultures/religions etc. we will also make sure our model is of a legal age to work, and get them to sign a contract of consent. in addition, we will ensure that all products are represented as they originally appear so that there is no false advertising. lastly we will ensure that we have permission to shoot on all locations that we go to.
How will the images be developed?
the images will be printed off and sent to the customer. they can then be sent them via USB to then print off if they are happy with them.
What editing software/techniques will be used to
finalise the images?
we will use photo shop to edit these images after they have been taken. we will probably enhance them by making them brighter etc and therefore more appealing. we may also use some creative techniques and perhaps cut out images of the model we have taken in the studio and place them onto images of more interesting backgrounds. this way the finished images are more likely to fit the brief and be more attractive.
In what format will they be printed?
as they are for commercial use, they wont be printed onto photo paper in a light sensitive room. they will simply follow whatever process the customer chooses.
