lighting photography

to create the shadow of the umbrella in this image, we had strong light coming from the side, and used the reflectors to direct it. this meant that the light could come from behind the umbrella as well, and therefore create the shadow of the insides that you can see.


in this image a red filter was used over the lights in the studio. this created a nice purple to appear on the blue backdrop, and made the ballons appear mostly red which i think creates a nice contrast between the colours.



this image was taken from a different angle than the previous one, but is still basically the same so the above ^ applies. however because this was taken from an alternate angle, we see things differently. the use of the light shining through the ballons means we can see the lines of the ones behind it coming through. i think this is effective as it gives the images more dimensions and depth.
